it was a week of digging, planting, organizing, dirty hands, an impromptu Thursday night dance party (oh Friday was a drag! who dances til 4am on a work night?), and lots of hauling of wood. It was certainly hard work, and I learned a lot... which I love.
as a reward for a hard work week, and to clean up the yard we had a bonfire Friday night. The burn started before 6pm and I didn't pull myself away from the fire until after 3am. The night was crisp, the fire hot, and the moon full and large, illuminating the beautiful property all around us.
After lying in the hammock for a few hours Saturday morning Josh and I packed a picnic (french style, of course, with a bottle of wine, fruit, and sandwiches) and hopped on bicycles bound for the nearest town of Neuvy St. Sepulcre. The ride itself is easy, along rural roads; passing sheep, cows, an equestrian center, and lots of old farm houses.
The town is small, yet it has one of everything you could need. Plus loads of charm.
Behind the center square, which consists of a few buildings and a fountain, there is a big lake with grassy areas surrounding it. Perfect for our picnic!
